Guidelines
Systematic Reviews
Critical Appraisal of an article
Other (primary studies)
Please select one of the references you reported above to use as an example as you go through the validation process. The following links display a list of questions you should consider in determining the validity of the literature source. Completing these worksheets will help you assess the sources you found in a critical manner.
TIPS:
Cochrane Reviews, Clinical Evidence, Clinical Inquiries can generally be considered valid, and thus you may not need to do your own appraisal.
If the outcomes of all your sources is in concordance, then validity is less an issue.
If the reference is from an unknown source or one that is suspect for bias, a review of validity is imperative prior to integration of the conclusions with other sources.Begin working on Step 3: Evaluate, Interpret, and Summarize the Evidence.
