Soledad Ayres, MD (Sea Mar)

Soledad believes in a health care system that emphasizes primary and preventive care. She believes these are the measures that will ultimately have the greatest impact on the people it serves. Soledad is interested in working with underserved communities because she feels it is a responsibility of a physician to recognize that medical training comes not just from professors and attendings but from the society in which we live that has provided the opportunity for education and allowed for patient care in training. She believes a debt is owed to society that must be repaid by using these skills to work with communities lacking access to healthcare. Soledad sees the role of an individual physician with his/her patients as that of an educator and interpreter who provides patients with the information to make choices about their healthcare. Soledad’s special medical interests include women’s health and reproductive health. Outside of medicine she enjoys sewing clothing, quilts on an antique treadle machine, vegan cooking and dancing contradance, salsa, meringue, and cumbia.
