Sea Mar Resident Receives Roy Virak Award
 

On Saturday, May 20, 2006 in Blaine, Washington, the Washington Academy of Family Physicians presented Julian Perez, MD (Sea Mar R2) with the prestigious Roy Virak Scholarship.

Named after Dr. Roy Virak, the first residency director and founder of the Tacoma Family Medicine Residency, the award honors a second-year Family Medicine resident in training. Recipients are chosen on the basis of physician skills, leadership and service.

Program Director, Sam Cullison, attended the award ceremony, which was held at the annual meeting of the WAFP in Blaine, Washington. Dr. Perez was praised for his leadership and interpersonal skills, as well as his passion to act for social justice and community health.
