After a childhood growing up in Kansas and Tennessee, Carla Ainsworth completed her undergraduate work at Kenyon College in Ohio and medical school at Washington University in St. Louis.  She pursued additional training in public health at UC Berkeley, with a focus on maternal and child health, before moving to the Pacific Northwest in 2000.  She completed residency training at Swedish/Providence and the geriatrics fellowship here at Swedish Family Medicine before joining a community health center practice in central Seattle.

In 2007, she joined the faculty to combine full-spectrum practice with the opportunity to help train the next generation of family physicians.  Her interests include inpatient medicine, chronic disease care, leadership and advocacy work.    When she's not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and being active, which usually involves chasing after their two children, Quentin and Cassandra.
