All first year resident positions are filled through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Swedish Family Medicine accepts only those applications transmitted via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) between the opening of the ERAS post office and October 31. We will have ten first year resident openings this year. For information regarding ERAS, contact the Dean's office of your medical school.  International graduates can contact the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).  Please keep in mind that Swedish Family Medicine Residency is a highly competitive program whose residents come from the top 20% of United States medical school classes.

Applicant information is reviewed as soon as ALL of the following items are received through ERAS:

1) ERAS Common Application Form

2) Medical School Transcript

3) Personal Statement

4) Two Letters of Reference (preferably one from a family medicine physician)

5) USMLE Step 1 scores (or COMLEX for D.O. students): applicants must pass the USMLE Step 1 on their first attempt

6) There is one additional requirement for International Medical Graduates: current ECFMG certification

Swedish Family Medicine Residency - First Hill does not sponsor any visas.  Applicants needing Visa sponsorship are required to find outside sponsorship.

When applying to Swedish Family Medicine Residency - First Hill, you only apply once through ERAS.  You do not apply or interview separately for 45th St. Clinic, Downtown Family Medicine, and First Hill.  However, each clinic site does have its own match number and you will need to rank each site individually.  You can rank one, two, or all three sites.  If you are interested in the geriatrics training track, please contact us to find out how to choose that option.
