1. Schedules of residents into the clinics. The 45th Street Clinic Chief will also be responsible for scheduling residents into the Teen Clinic slots on Tuesday nights. 2. Arrange clinic coverage for residents who are ill, have obstetric deliveries or other circumstances that preclude them from performing scheduled duties. 3. Attend clinic staff meetings (i.e., practice management meetings) at their own clinic sites. 4. Help organize one or more of the following major residency activities: Spring Curriculum Day, Fall Curriculum Day, Family Practice Day or the Residency Retreat. 5. Assist the Chief Resident as needed and be willing to assume the duties of Chief Resident in their absence. 6. Be present at Residency Round Table meetings to update all residents on site-specific issues and relay information to residents who are unable to attend. The above duties are considered essentially mandatory and, except for certain circumstances (FP Service, vacation, etc.), must be performed to quality for compensation. Compensation for a Clinic Chief Resident includes a stipend and four additional vacation days at the First Hill site and three additional vacation days at DFM and 45th Street Clinic. Selection Procedures For Chief Residents 1. Only second year residents may be elected to serve as Chief Resident or as Clinic Chief Resident to served during their R3 year. 2. Qualified residents from all training sites are eligible to become Chief Resident. 3. Faculty shall have the option of excluding from nomination any resident who is having academic difficulties. 4. A sign-up list for Chief Resident self-nomination will be circulated among all R-2s, completed and returned to residency coordinator by March 1. Elections by secret, numbered ballot will be held the following week. 5. Announced promptly so that a similar process for selection of Clinic Chief Residents can begin by March 21 at each of the three training sites. 45th St. and DFM R-2s may divide the year and each act as clinic chief for six months. 6. No resident on probation or for whom a disciplinary action is unresolved shall be eligible to serve as Chief Resident or Clinic Chief Resident.
