Carol has been a family physician in Seattle since 1987, first as Medical Director at the 45th St. Clinic and from 1993 until 2008 as Site Director for the Swedish Family Medicine Residency program at 45th St.  Carol is now the site director for the new Ballard Community Health clinic. Working in a community clinic has given Carol a wonderful opportunity to work in the area of psychiatry in family medicine which was her focus for the Faculty Development Fellowship in 1996.  Carol enjoys all aspects of family medicine and has a special interest in patient education as well as mental health.  Before studying medicine at the University of Washington, Carol taught math, chemistry and English in Ethiopia (as a Peace Corps Volunteer), Utah and New York City and counseled teen mothers in Olympia.  Her three grown children, taught Carol much of what she knows about children, adolescents and young adults.  Carol and her husband love to spend time with their children when they can, even if it is just for a quick game of Scrabble.
