Jorge
Garcia, M.D.

Dr.
Garcia, a board certified physician, graduated from the University
of California, San Francisco in 1983. He completed Family Practice
Residency, Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound, Seattle, WA, 1986.
He completed a Faculty Development Fellowship, University of Washington,
1995.
Dr. Garcia teaches at
both Swedish and Providence Family Practice Residencies. His
responsibilities include enhancing the cooperation of these two large
programs. He is involved in teaching obstetric sonography and other
procedures such as flexible sigmoidoscopy. Dr. Garcia's medical
interests include adolescent health care , cross-cultural medicine, OB
ultrasound, and International health. He believes patient care
should be based on respect for cultural differences and individual needs.
A member of Physicians for Social Responsibility, Dr. Garcia is involved
in community clinics as well as volunteering at a homeless youth clinic.
Dr. Garcia recently took
a leave from teaching to do an international medical consulting job, that
had him traveling in Asia and Latin America which he found very
educational. He lives in Seattle with his wife (also a family
physician) and two children. They enjoy music and spending time in the
mountains.
