Neurology

Rotation Information

Faculty: Carol Cordy, M.D.

Neurology is a three-week required R-3 rotation paired with one week of continuity clinic. The expectation is that during three weeks of the block, each resident will spend at least 12 half days with Dr. Larry Murphy, or Dr. Raymond Park and Dr. William Likosky, focusing on the learning objectives listed below. During these three weeks residents will also spend three half days in their continuity clinic, Tuesday afternoon in residency didactics, one half day studying topics in neurology and one half day doing continuity clinic patient follow-up. The fourth week of the block residents will spend seven half days each week in their continuity clinic (see the Clinic Month Curriculum for specifics).

Dr. Murphy has suggested that each resident use the most current editions of Neurology for the House Officer and Neurology Made Ridiculously Simple as texts for this elective.  Chapters on Neurology in the most current Scientific American Medicine is another good resource. There are also resources in the Swedish Online Curriculum.

You will know at the first of the academic year which weeks you will be working with Dr. Murphy or Dr. Park and Dr. Likosky.  Call Dr. Murphy or Dr. Park and Dr. Likosky at least one month or prior to your rotation to coordinate your clinic schedules.  You can reach Dr. Murphy at 386-2800 or Dr. Park at 329-1760 and Dr. Likosky at 386-9500.  Dr. Murphy prefers to have you schedule your half days with him in the mornings and Dr. Park in the afternoons.
