Joe Breuner, M.D.
Director, Obstetrics
Fellowship
Drawn
to family medicine by the example of his small-town general practitioner
grandfather, Dr. Breuner still believes in a system where family
physicians provide most of the care. He studied government at Harvard,
medicine at UCSD, and family medicine at the University of Washington. A
year caring for Afghan refugees in Pakistan and 8 years at the 45th St.
Clinic focused his attention on the many barriers to care our patients
face. He cares for low-income patients at Swedish's Downtown Family
Medicine site; current professional interests include procedure
training, genetics in primary care, resident-faculty communication and
directing Swedish Family Medicine's Obstetrics Fellowship. Outside
interests include multi-sport and relay events and keeping up with his
kids on a snowboard. He
leads the faculty band, Plan B, and plays in a U2 cover band. As a
recently divorced dad, he helps his kids with homework, healing and
soccer. |
