The Community Health Services Development Program (CHSD) works to help rural communities strengthen the health of local populations through a community-based planning process. Through contributions from the communities, the University of Washington School of Medicine, and state and federal agencies, rural citizens participate in a community development and health planning project. To date we have applied our approach to over 60 communities in the WWAMI region and around the country.
