University of Washington CAM Grant

David Kiefer, MD


David Kiefer, M.D., is a board-certified family physician and works in several clinic systems in Seattle, Washington, including an integrative medicine and procedure clinic at Bastyr University, the naturopathic medical school.  Dr. Kiefer is faculty liaison to the University of Washington Complementary and Alternative Medicine grant’s Student Interest Group.  He recently completed a fellowship at the Program in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, where he is now an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine and medical editor of botanical medicine teaching modules.  Dr. Kiefer graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison, Wisconsin, and completed his residency training at the Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.  His research and teaching interests include ethnobotany, especially in Latin America, and the clinical applications of evidence-based herbal medicine.
