Family Medicine Residency Selection & Career Advising
All About ERAS

Family practice residency program applications are submitted via ERAS (Electronic Residency Application System). Specific information about applying on-line through ERAS is provided by the Dean's Office approximately mid-July. They will also inform you of important deadlines. Additional application credentials are sent by the Dean's Office to programs.

The advantages of ERAS are several:

  • Only one application is required
  • Letter writers need only supply one "Dear colleague" letter
  • Dean's Letter, transcript, Board scores etc. are sent to programs as they come in and are uploaded into ERAS
  • Additional programs may be applied to with minimal effort on your part
You should plan to submit your disk to the Dean's Office by early September. (Letters of recommendation should also have been requested by then). Most programs screen and offer interviews on a first-come first-served basis, so early application has several advantages:
  • It may improve your likelihood of getting an interview
  • You generally have more options in scheduling interviews
  • If you decide to add programs, there is still time before their deadlines and/or before they fill their interview slots
Any questions about ERAS should be directed to the Dean's Office. You may also call (206) 543-9425 to talk with one of our advising staff.
