Clerkship Exam

The required exam is pass / fail, as described in the clerkship grading policy. The exam is web-based and typically takes place on Thursday of the last week of your rotation.

The exam will consist of a series of 60 multiple choice questions followed by several short answer questions in a SOAP note format.   Test questions may be drawn from your assigned textbook readings or from the PCC curriculum that is required as part of the family medicine clerkship.   As you complete the assessment and plan portions of the notes, please remember that we will score your responses based on what you tell us about how you would approach the problems and think your way through the issues. Please be brief - each individual point you make should be no longer than two to three sentences - but, your response must be clearly written so we understand what you would do and why. We're looking for your clinical thinking and reasoning, so you may need to include more information than you would for a typical SOAP note.

The following are SOAP note writing exercises that will help prepare you for your exam.

SOAP Note Excercise One

SOAP Note Excercise Two

Please note that this is a closed book test.   No electronic devices will be permitted.   If you have concerns about the logistics of the exam, please contact me as soon as possible.   We greatly appreciate your part in the Family Medicine Clerkship Exam.

Here is the link to the exam:

On the bottom right corner of the screen you should see a "Any Time Courses" link then Clerkship Quiz. Once you will click on the link they will ask for your name and student ID. Also, when registering to take the exam, you will have to answer a few required question. One of the questions is a little odd, "Description." You can go ahead and type anything in this box. After you complete the registration, please proceed with the exam.
